On Sundays in Lent the Sermons at 09h15 will explore the Good News of the New Life that the suffering, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus wins for us. The Gospels assigned to the Sundays in Lent are literally bursting with the Good News of the salvation Christ offers. Hence the music of the Sunday liturgies will be penitential before the Gospel, and full of gratitude and joy after it.

At Evensong at 19h00 on the Sundays in Lent the Sermons will focus on the meaning of living with the benefits of Christ's passion, death and resurrection. Drawing on themes from St Paul's Letter to the Romans, we will seek to discover the power of living as those who are 'in Christ,' who have been made a 'new creation' in Christ. Here are lessons to support us as we seek to confront our challenges, today, here and now, in the power of Christ's victory..

Wednesday Evenings in Lent

On Wednesdays in Lent at 17h30, in the context of an evening devotion in the style of Taizé, we shall follow Jesus on his pilgrimage to Jerusalem and his passion, reading the story in Luke's Gospel. We gather for a light Lenten Supper at 17h30, a Presentation and discussion at 18h00, followed by Prayer in the style of Taizé, to end by 19h15.

A pilgrimage in the spirit of the Stations of the Cross, beginning at St Mark's Church and stopping for prayer at several sites important in the history of the struggle for justice, freedom and dignity for all South Africans. The pilgrimage will end at the Cathedral, with the opportunity to walk the Labyrinth.
