PHOTOS OF THE SERVICE OF NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS,
24 DECEMBER 2006
As the service of Nine Lessons and Carols on 24 December 2006 was the last time that Barry Smith officially conducted the St George's Cathedral Choir, Vidi la Grange, a member of the congregation, decided to make a photographic record of this event. His photos are now available for purchase in three different formats:
A DVD which is playable on any DVD player connected to a TV set. It contains over 100 photos taken before, during and immediately after the Carol Service, and is in the form of a slide show with accompanying background music taken from the music performed at that service. Price R50
A CD containing all the same photos as the DVD, but without the background music, which may be viewed on any computer which has a CD drive. The same photos will appear in two folders on the CD, one as a PowerPoint slide show, and the other containing all the photos in Jpeg format, from which purchasers can make their own prints of any of the photos. Price R50
Individual jumbo-size prints of the photos used in the slide show, which may be ordered at R5 each The procedure for ordering will be as follows:
- A booklet of thumbnail photos will be available at the welcome table after the 09h15 service. Each photo has its own number for ordering purposes.
- People wanting to order prints will be given an envelope with an order form. Payment for prints must be made at the time of ordering, and the money placed in the order envelope.
- The Sunday after an order has been placed, envelopes containing ordered prints will be returned to the Cathedral and placed in a box at the welcome table for people to collect.
The DVDs and CDs will be on sale after the 09h15 service from 4 February onwards, and should the stock of either run out on any particular Sunday, then an order may be placed in the same way as for the prints, and the DVD or CD may be collected the following Sunday.
The proceeds of these sales will go towards the Cathedral's music fund.
